Technology versus Behaviour in site safety
We spend a lot of time and resource these days on the promotion of technology on HK’s construction sites. Much of this is geared towards productivity, but increasingly it is focussed on worker safety.
Don’t get me wrong, investment in any form to prevent workplace accidents and save lives is laudable, but as many professionals - clients, contractors and consultants - will tell you, what is really needed is to get to the hearts and minds of the frontline worker.
So why do we spend little to no time or resource on psychologists or behavioural specialists who might help to change a frontline workers perspective, mindset or thought-process so that they do not expose themselves to the hazardous situation to begin with?
