Peak Tram Upgrade Project (2016 – 2022)

The Peak Tram has proudly served Hong Kong for over 130 years. It was Hong Kong’s most visited attraction, and pre-COVID patronage continued to grow every year. High demand for the Peak Tram led to long queues, with waiting times reaching two hours during peak season. Delivered through the COVID pandemic bringing together multiple delivery streams in Hong Kong, the Mainland and Europe, the upgrade project has transformed the Peak Tram into a more exciting and comfortable experience for Peak Tram visitors. The new Peak Tram was successfully launched in August 2022, providing a better passenger experience, with increased tram capacity, an over-70% reduction in wait times at the Termini, and a comfortable new indoor waiting area at the Lower Terminus with bespoke physical and AV experiences.
