Specialist Thermit Welding

It was great to see Heinrich Imboden back in Hong Kong today, and it was a real pleasure to welcome his party to the new Peak Tram. Thanks also to Samuel LEE for hosting.

Both Heinrich and I have previously posted on the very specialist thermit welding that Immweld carried out for the Peak Tram upgrade project. Fantastic to see Heinrich showing such care for and pride in his company’s work, especially on his holiday https://lnkd.in/gc7Za9h6

We had over 300 such joints carried out on track angles up to 26 degrees, when laying new rails for the Peak Tram Upgrade in late 2021. This was followed by an extensive non-destructive testing programme to ensure the quality of the joint. It is really pleasing to note how well the track looked, felt and sounded during today’s visit.
